IMAGINING
ROBERT, a one-hour film, is a story of two brothers, one who has suffered
the horrors and sadness of mental illness for thirty-eight years--the
other, a prize-winning novelist who has been his brother's primary caretaker
through those years.
Based
on the life experiences of
Jay and Robert Neugeboren, IMAGINING ROBERT is a true story--true not
only for the protagonists, but for millions of other Americans. The
project includes a one-hour documentary film, study guides, and public
screenings and discussions designed to create dialogue about the issues.
The goal of this production is to stimulate national debate and discussion
about the impact of chronic mental illness on families, and about how
this impact can play out across decades and across whole lives.
